Contrary to popular belief, troubleshooting a keyless remote is not as complicated as it sounds. In fact, the simplicity of this device, as well as its functionality allows troubleshooting to be done simultaneously after knowing a very important detail.

Every time I try to push the lock/unlock button of my remote, it doesn’t operate.

Try to answer this question: Whenever you press the button of your keyless remote, do any of the typical multiple functions of your vehicle work? This includes the door lock/unlock, horn, lights flash, and so on.

In any case that these features work as you press the remote, then the problem lies in your vehicle, and not the remote. However, if nothing happened when pressing the buttons, then it’s advisable to give us a call. We’ll try our best to help you diagnose the problem or pick the right remote.

Based on our own experience, most vehicles are prone to door lock actuator problems. Usually, the front door locks are often used, rather than the rear door locks. The result, the problem shows up in either one or both of these doors.
One of our customers experienced the same problem with his 2000 F150 truck, and we fixed that by replacing the front door lock actuators.
